Payroll services

Real Time Information (or RTI) arguably represents the biggest change in payroll since the introduction of PAYE in 1944.

Under RTI every employer needs to submit payroll information to HMRC via the Government Gateway on or before the date each employee is paid. Small to medium sized businesses have been legally required to report payroll data in real time from October 2013.

Pension regulations and automatic enrolment

The government introduced a new law from 1 October 2012 (but to be introduced gradually over five years depending upon the size of the employer) aimed at making it easier for people to save for their retirement. It requires all employers to enrol their workers into a qualifying workplace pension scheme if they are not already in one.  At present, many workers fail to take up valuable pension benefits because they do not make an application to join their employer’s scheme. Automatic enrolment is meant to overcome this.
